IEET Engineering Accreditation

What is IEET Accreditation?

The educational accreditation promoted by IEET is a non-governmental, peer-review mechanism aimed at ensuring the quality of education in departments and programs by focusing on student learning outcomes. Departments voluntarily participate in this periodic review process to demonstrate their continuous compliance with IEET accreditation standards.

The purpose of IEET accreditation is not to compare or rank programs, but to confirm that departments are consistently achieving their self-defined educational objectives and that their graduates possess the core competencies required for their professions. Furthermore, IEET accreditation encourages departments to maintain and improve the quality of education through the accreditation process.

The "Engineering and Technology Education Accreditation" is applied to degree-granting programs at domestic universities, technological universities, technical colleges, and junior colleges recognized by the Ministry of Education, offering associate, bachelor, master, or doctoral degrees. Since 2004, IEET has been responsible for promoting accreditation in engineering education (EAC), computing education (CAC), technology education (TAC), architectural education (AAC), and design education (DAC) in Taiwan.

IEET accreditation operates on a six-year cycle, with the review process divided into "periodic reviews" and "interim reviews." The "periodic review" is a comprehensive assessment conducted every six years, while the "interim review" focuses on key follow-up evaluations within the same cycle based on the results of the accreditation.
